Designer Wedding Gowns
"Yes."
There, you've said it. Now that you have
the right man, it's time to get the perfect dress. Where do you start?
Well here is the process in a nutshell. If you're as selective with your
wedding dress as you were with choosing a husband, you will be happy you chose
to work with Donna at Sewing Sensations.
Step 1. Bring in a picture or sketch of the dress you
have in mind. Donna can review it with you and direct you to a store, such
as Jo-Ann Fabrics, to get a pattern to use as a starting point.
Step 2. For correct sizing, bring in the pattern and get
your measurements established for the skirt and top. Determine what kind
of ruffle is best. (Measurements are also available gratis if you are
asked to be in a wedding out-of-town, say, and you need to send the specifics.)
Step 3. Determine the fabric you want to use.
Dupioni Silk, French Satin, Chiffon? And for the color, do you want White
or Ivory? Donna can help you with these personal decisions and make fabric
shop suggestions (see Links).
Step 4. Mockup. For final sizing and design, Donna
will create a full mockup using another fabric. Only after everything
looks good will work begin with your chosen fabric.
Step 5. First of two fittings. About half-way
through the dressmaking, you will come in and ensure everything is on track.
Surprises at this point in the wedding process we don't need. At this time
we also measure and prepare for the hem.
Step 6. Final fitting. This is it. The dress
is ready.
Are you? Of course you are! As ready as you will ever be.
Everything is just right, you have your dress, you're beautiful, and now it's
your day.
